# Levels: Ship, Craft, and Autonomy

> How Kanaeru opens up as you use it: ship work first, then shape it in place, then hand it over.

Kanaeru has three levels. Each one matches a different way of working with Kana:

| Level | How you work | What it adds |
| - | - | - |
| **1 · Ship** | Do the work with Kana. You describe what you want in chat, review what she produces, and deliver it | The full loop: vision, roadmap, plan review, blueprints, pipelines, delivery, and retrospectives |
| **2 · Craft** | Shape the work in place. You change a blueprint where you're looking at it, instead of describing the change in chat | Blueprint edit mode, the source editor, and annotations pinned to an exact region |
| **3 · Autonomy** | Hand the work over. Kana runs work without you driving each step | The **Level up** card introduces automations, handing an outcome to Koa, and learnings that build up over time. None of these is locked: you can use them at any level |

You never pick a level. You earn it by doing the real work, and the next level opens when you're ready for it. Nothing about how Kana builds changes between levels: every outcome gets the same planning, review, and pipeline at every level.

## How you level up

Two things open the next level: enough **XP**, and a short list of **goals** that prove you've done the previous level's work. The sidebar shows how much XP you still need for the next level, with a checklist of its goals.

| To reach | Total XP | Goals |
| - | - | - |
| **Craft** | 143 | Approve a blueprint · Deliver an outcome · Complete a retrospective |
| **Autonomy** | 500 | Edit or annotate a blueprint in place · Apply a retrospective finding |

You earn XP when you act on Kana's work:

| Action | XP |
| - | - |
| Deliver an outcome | 100 |
| Complete a retrospective | 40 |
| Apply a retrospective finding | 30 |
| Resolve an understanding gap | 25 |
| Request changes | 15 |
| Resolve a spec drift | 15 |
| Edit a blueprint | 10 |
| Resolve an annotation | 10 |
| Annotate a region of a blueprint | 8 |
| Approve a blueprint | 3 |

Delivering your first outcome, approving one of its blueprints, and finishing its retrospective adds up to exactly 143 XP, enough for Craft. You apply a retrospective finding with **Apply to roadmap** on a finding in an outcome's Retrospective, after you've completed a retrospective. See [Applying a finding](/concepts/learning-loop#applying-a-finding).

## What a locked feature looks like

A Craft feature, such as blueprint edit mode or annotations, shows a lock chip, **Unlocks at Craft**, until you reach Craft. Hover over it to see how much XP you still need. When you reach a new level, a **Level up** card explains what changed, with a few things to try. Choose **Got it** to close it.

<Tip>
At Ship, you can already ask Kana to change any blueprint. Craft adds doing it yourself, directly on the canvas. See [Blueprint editor and tools](/guides/blueprint-editor).
